  • Mission Statement

    Jay Jackson

Director | Owner | Top Notch Tournamentz

    (925) 250-2873

  • Top Notch Tournamentz is a new AAU tournament program here in the San Francisco Bay Area. We run our tournaments bi- weekly, all year round. We've sold out our last 11 events. We've only been in business for 8 months. There are quite a few tournament organizations here in the Bay Area. The Bay is diverse and it's great to have diversity in our tournament venues as well. I am also a site coordinator in a major national non- profit golf program. One that empahsizes strong core values and and empowering our youth. I've tried to incorporate those same core values into Top Notch Tournamentz. Top Notch Tournamentz is an integrity based tournament program. Our tournament director /owner is on site at every event. My goal is to make sure our players, parents and coaches enjoy the Top Notch Tournamentz experience. We hope you give us an opportunity to share my vision with you and we hope you have a great time. We'll put our teams and families first!

  • Age and Grade Rules and Exceptions For Top Notch Tournamentz

PLEASE take some time to read this information. The goal will be to implement this rule on January 1 , 2020.

    Passion

    • ● Open divisions for ALL Top Notch Tournamentz are grade based. Under these rules, any player who shows current proof of grade (report card, progress report, or school ID) is eligible to play for that grade level. All other divisions are age-based with two (2) grade exceptions allowed per team.

      • ○ Example- A player playing 7th grader who shows proof that they are currently in 7th grade regardless of their birthdate is eligible to play as a grade exception.

      • ○ However, birthdate is still relevant. For example, please note that a player who is in 8th grade could still conceivably play 13U/7th Grade division if he fits into the correct age range.

      • ○ See age ranges below:

  • Average skill level of our teams that register with us

Usually D2 and D3 teams register with us. We do get our share of D1 teams. D1 is welcome and I will find you a stiff test. Call and let me know your interest and I can find teams. Call and I will tell you if your team is a fit for our events. I will not mislead you into registering if your team is not a fit. That will not benefit anyone involved. We want your continued support, not your 1 time registration fee. Our reputation matters to us! Lower level teams please don't be intimidated! Teams have to start playing somewhere and I can find your team a fit! We usually have 2-3 levels in each age group. Call me for more info.

    Tournament Rules- PLEASE READ!!

Games are played with the same rules as high school basketball. There are a few exceptions.

    • Forfeits are punishable by  a $100 penalty. Why? Because you create a hardship for the opposing team as well as yours.
    • Registration fees must be paid before entering the tournament facility. NO EXCEPTIONS!
    • Games are 2 halves. Each half is 18 minutes.
    • There is a running clock. Clock only stops for time outs, injuries and in the last 2 minutes of the game,  IF the game is inside of 10 points.
    • 3 time outs per game.
    • There is a NOT a no press rule. however, we would hope that coaches would exhibit good sportsmanship in all individual cases.
    • Overtime is 2 minutes. No timeouts in overtime.
    • The 2nd overtime is sudden death. That means that the first team that scores, wins.
    • Round robin tiebreakers are point differential between the 2 teams with the best records among common opponents.

    SPORTSMANSHIP is EVERYTHING!

*Coaches, parents and players, I can not stress this enough. The games are truly about the kids. Bad sportsmanship will not ever be tolerated. If you can't control your emotions, you will be asked to leave the gym.

    * Throwing a punch is an automatic ejection from the tournament.

*If a player comes off the bench and onto the floor during an altercation he is ejected from the tournament.

    * Only the HEAD COACH is allowed to communicate with the officials. No exceptions. 1st violation is a 2 shot technical. 2nd violation is an ejection from the tournament.

    * If a coach choses to file a ptotest, he or she must pay a $100 fee to the tournament director immediately and clearly state the protest. If he or she gets the protest confirmed, action will be taken immediately to remedy the problem. If an illegal player has played, he will be disqualified from the tournament and any game that he has played in will be forfeited. Clearly, his team can continue to play without him.

*The $100 protest fee is not refundable under any circumstances because clearly, it affects the standings of teams in the tournament. It must be paid at the time of the protest.

*****Coaches, every parent needs to pay for a wristband. We can't pay staff if parents aren't willing to pay to get in. Only the Head Coach is allowed in free. NO EXCEPTIONS. Kids under 5 are FREE. Kids over 5 are $5 and adults are $10

**Coaches, your responsibility is to set a good example for the kids. Please accept and hpld youd your parents and players to a standard of respect and sportsmanship. Profanity will not be tolerated. You will be ejected from the facility.
